GPR Underground Utility Survey

Ground-penetrating radar survey that locates and maps underground utilities before any excavation — reducing damage risk, speeding approvals and producing accurate as-built corridors.

A note on terminology: the correct engineering term for this service is GPR — Ground Penetrating Radar. It is widely searched online as “GPRS survey”, which is why that phrase also appears on this site. It should not be confused with GPRS (General Packet Radio Service), the cellular data technology.

A survey is only as good as the crew reading it. Mezux runs 14 company-owned GPR systems operated by our own engineers — not rented kit and freelance hands — so interpretation stays consistent from the field to the final drawing.

We have mapped over 1.5 lakh kilometres of subsurface: power, water, drainage and legacy telecom, profiled by depth and turned into GIS-ready, field-verified as-built records. That documentation is what lets an HDD crew drill with confidence and a RoW file stand up to scrutiny.

Figures are indicative of standard capability and are confirmed per project. Achievable values depend on ground conditions, utility density, site access and authority requirements, and are fixed in the approved method statement. GPR does not detect every buried asset in every ground condition; complementary locating methods and physical verification are used where accuracy is critical.

QA/QC and documentation

Work is executed under our ISO 9001:2015 quality, ISO 14001:2015 environmental and ISO 45001:2018 occupational health & safety management systems. Each project runs to an Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) agreed with the client, with hold and witness points at survey sign-off, bore setout, duct proving, splicing and final testing. Site checklists, test records and as-built drawings are compiled into a handover pack for the client and, where applicable, the permitting authority.
